Blankets

I have always found great comfort in a blanket. If you see me at my house I am usually cuddled up under a throw. I am the person that grabs the afghan off the couch when visiting friends and family. I have crocheted several afghans over the years and I love the heaviness that they bring over my sometimes cold and tired body.

I also love a blanket of snow. I prepared for the winter storm that we were threatened so I wouldn’t have to go far from my home. I have so enjoyed the past few days of enjoying the sweet comforts of life - a wonderful boyfriend, good food, and sweet nothingness. Our world was covered in a blanket of white. I believe sometimes we need these coverings because our bodies are tired and they need rest. If you’re like me, rest comes easy when you’re in a warm home while everything on the outside is bitter cold. I have been able to catch up on some much needed sleep.

Blankets. They wrap you up and give the most satisfying of comforts. I am thankful for the blanket of snow we received and am looking forward to more of the white stuff, hopefully sooner than later.  Until then, I am going to soak up these precious moments with the ones that I love.

A Friendly Introduction

Hello world!  It has been quite some time since my last blog post.  My world has been very complicated, and at times I didn't see, or better chose not to see, what God was doing in my life.  Through all of the difficulties I chose to lean on the Lord.  I have in no way been perfect and still struggle from day to day.  I try not to dwell on the past.  I am thankful for everything that I have been through and experienced.  It has made me the woman that I am today.  I can say that I am extremely excited for the future and all that it holds. All of that to say I have decided to blog more on the happenings of my life.  You may or may not even care about what I say or what I do, and that is more than fine.  Honestly, this blog is more for me than anything.  Think of it as a web based journal, a way for me to record the special happenings that take place.  You will more than likely see a lot of posts about reading material, being th...

Old Paths

Ok.  So picture the Judd's singing, "Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days."  Let that tune stick in your mind as you read the following paragraphs.  I love the old ways of life that have mysteriously found me.  I was raised in the city limits of Scottsville, Kentucky.  I loved looking at the "moo cows" that just so happened to be in our backyard, separated by a fence, thanks to a neighbor who owned just enough land to accommodate them.  They were friendly for the most part, but I always longed for one of them to let me feed it from my bare hands.  I got close a few times, but their skiddish demeanor left them just out of reach.  My small city life as a child was good, safe, and reliable.  My parents worked their tails off, ensuring that bills were paid and we had food on the table.  We bought new tennis shoes, once a year at the beginning of school.  We were never allowed to wear them out of the house until that first day of...

Weekend Projects

Over the past several months, I have become extremely close to my family.  I can honestly say that without a doubt that they have my back.  I am thankful for them - for the love and support they have shown me - for showing up and helping me when I felt too weak to do things on my own - for simply being there.  Several members of my family have been helping me spruce up the house for potential showings.  They are ready to see me move on with my life, and I am so thankful for having them in my corner. I'm telling y'all...my family is the cream of the crop.  They're mine & I'm theirs & we are family! Our garden is still producing lots of peppers.  I was busy canning banana peppers last night, using a simple brine that I found off of the internet.   Ingredients: 50-60 banana peppers sliced into rings 7 cups of vinegar 2 cups of water 4 cloves of garlic 1 tsp celery seed 1 tsp dill  1 tsp mustard seed 1 tsp pepper...
